Why Are Many People Attracted to Suspense and Mystery Books? Do you like alpha men, law men, military men, and strong women, second chances, spies, lies and betrayal

Hi all, welcome to new and returning readers, glad you could stop by.

I love a good mystery/ suspense. It makes me want to guess what is going on and solve it. I enjoy the thrill of discovery. How about you?

I remember an English teacher telling me to write what I know. But for a romantic suspense author, that isn’t a realistic advice. :) I write about murder, espionage, betrayal not to mention the bad behavior of the super-rich. So obviously, I have to rely on my imagination.

It was a dark and stormy night. Lol

Writing can be mysterious and passionate, but sometimes tedious as well. With mysteries and suspense, I find the counterpoint of the hero and heroine being in danger and falling in love exciting. I want the reader to wonder if they’ll live long enough to develop a relationship. Sometimes I toss a middle-class person(s) into a situation where they are out of their depth. Out of their social milieu, what will they do to survive? Of course, in the frightening circumstances, will the romance withstand the pressure or not?

Some psychologists and other academics have studied suspense, and appear to agree that suspense and mystery are a form of uncertainty. The reader isn’t sure how the story will unfold or end, leading to feelings of anxiety and excitement, which keep the reader engaged and turning pages. And when the reader finishes a book, they will search for another one.

As an author, I hope readers become intensely invested in the people involved and will read to the end of the book to find out what happens.

A good suspense can quench the desire for a thrill, increase the heartbeat, involve solving a crime, and or sort out a mystery all in the safety of a book. They can be filled with a second chance to right a wrong, or redeem oneself.

The books often take place in exotic places or vacation spots, a juxtaposition between people enjoying themselves and the main characters struggling to stay safe and solve the mystery.

Review  "Read Dangerous Denial! An enthralling read that takes you in from the first sentence."

Dangerous Denial by Reggi Allder #RomanticSuspense. You can run but you can’t hide from the truth! "5.0 out of 5 stars will hold you on the edge of your seat as you follow her real-to-life characters. If you enjoy California wine, love and suspense, read the romantic suspense Dangerous Denial!" Unravel the mystery. Executive assistant Skye Turner thinks most people are good until her beloved boss is murdered. The police call his death a suicide. What is the truth? She needs help to uncover the circumstances leading to his death.

United States black ops member Jon Lancaster is restless while he recovers from injuries received during his last assignment. Pretty and diverting, Skye is probably mistaken about the death. Still, he decides to assist her in deciphering the events of the day the man died and also dig through the clues left for her.

Can Skye and Jon control their growing desire for each other? Are they ready for the lurking danger waiting for them?

There are three romantic suspense books in the series available now. Book one is Dangerous Web and I'm working on the fourth in the series, Dangerous Moves.

5 STAR REVIEW- “A seriously great book!!” “Great characters, I couldn’t stop reading to find out what happened next!”   Amazon

If you love film, look up classic suspense movies. Amazon has many that are great to watch. I like Alfred Hitchcock's films, North by Northwest and Rear Window, among others.
